Lori is the creator of this website and instructor of the course Multicultural Voices in Children’s and Young Adult Literature at Kent State University in the summer of 2010.  The multicultural book she identified with growing up was Starring Sally J. Freedman, As Herself, by Judy Blume.

Mary Gaeckle

Mary Gaeckle is currently a substitute teacher. She has taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Mary is currently working on her Masters in Education at Kent State University.

Jennifer Jones

Jennifer is a Math Tutor in the Tallmadge City Schools as well as a graduate student of reading specialization through Kent State University. Thank You, Mr. Falker influenced me as a student and as a teacher.

Cynthia Pinter

Cindy is a grad student in the Multicultural Voices in Children's and Young Adult Literature course at KSU and an eighth grade Language Arts teacher at Perry Middle School. The multicultural literature book she identified with was We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates.

Lori Keaton

Lori Keaton is currently a fifth grade teacher in the Revere Schools in Bath and Richfield Ohio. She's excited to have finished her Masters Degree from Kent State University this summer, 2010. She has taught grades 3-5 for the past 16 years and has taught in private and public schools and in both inner city and suburban schools. Her favorite multicultural literature books include Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, Number the Stars, and Freak the Mighty.

Katie McCarthy

Katie is a second grade teacher and is currently studying at Kent State University for her Master’s degree in Reading Specialization. The multicultural book she identifies with is Little Redheads Across America by Nicole Giladi, which celebrates the uniqueness of redheads. Katie has always been proud to have red hair.

Fallon E. Miller

Fallon has been teaching for three years, and will be teaching 2nd grade in the fall. She is currently taking the course, Multicultural Voices in Children's and Young Adult Literature at Kent State University. The Multicultural book she identified with growing up was The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein.

Laura DeBos

Laura DeBos is currently a third grade teacher in the Rootstown school system, located in Rootstown, Ohio. She has also enjoyed her teaching experiences in kindergarten, first grade and in a gifted program. Some of her favorite multiculural books include: Thank-you, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco; The Girl Who Could Fly, by Victoria Forester; Illusions by Richard Bach; The Watsons go to Birmingham 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis and many more!

Danielle Morvilius

Danielle is a 2006 graduate of Miami University of Ohio. She has been teaching third grade for four years and is currently enrolled in Kent State University’s graduate program for Reading Specialization. The book she identified with as a new teacher was Educating Esmé: Diary of a Teacher’s First Year, by Esmé Raji Codell.

Jamie Eberts

Jamie Eberts is a sixth grade intervention specialist with Springfield Local Schools. She has experience with teaching preschool, kindergarten, second, third, fourth, and sixth grades. Jamie currently is finishing her masters degree at Kent State University.

Megan Meneer

Lora Naska is currently a seventh grade language arts teacher. She has recently received her reading endorsement through Kent State University and is presently pursuing her MA in Reading Specialization. Letter to My Daughter, by Maya Angelou is one multiculturalbook that Lora identifies with.

Tiffany Jones

Nicole Hume

Nicole Hume is currently in her 2nd year of Kent State's Reading Specialization Master's program. The multicultural book that she identifies with is Marcia Schonberg's B is for Buckeye book.

Antoinette Berghoff

Ann Berghoff is a Title 1 reading tutor. After teaching reading for over 20 years, she has quite a collection of children's literature. She likes books that deal with acceptance of differences. Books like Dr. Suess's the Sneeches and Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko are examples of books that she enjoys sharing.
